Ljubljana – There is no spiral of violence in Slovenia, but there is a spiral of an upward trend in coronavirus infections, Prime Minister Janez Janša said during Monday’s Q&A session in parliament. Due to irresponsible behaviour, the country is on the verge of being forced to reintroduce lockdown measures, he said.

Ljubljana – Prime Minister Janez Janša said that the response to the Covid-19 pandemic had been belated in particular in countries where governments needed to get parliamentary approval to take measures, as he addressed an international online conference on governments and public sector post-recovery on Monday.

Ljubljana – A delegation of the European Parliament’s committee on civil liberties, justice and home affairs (LIBE) visiting Slovenia on a fact-finding mission has expressed concern mainly at the tone of public debate, while also calling for the issues of STA funding and European delegated prosecutor appointments to be addressed urgently.

In the past three weeks, three protests with a record number of protesters in Slovenia's history, took place in the country. The demands were early elections and the abolition of binding measures regarding COVID-19

Ljubljana – Prime Minister Janez Janša said the government would “not cave to pressure” after Zoran Stevanović, the leader of the protests against the Covid pass mandate, called on the government to resign or face new protests, including a blockade of the upcoming EU-Western Balkans summit. He called on the competent authorities to take action.

Ljubljana – The senior coalition Democrats (SDS) filed a request on Wednesday for an emergency session of the parliamentary interior affairs and justice committees to discuss the duties of law enforcement in the protection of the legal order and democratic postulates in the face of recent unannounced protests.

Ljubljana – Prime Minister Janez Janša will be on a working visit to the UK on Thursday for talks with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. A number of bilateral and international issues will be on the agenda.
