A fire at a fueling station in Romania caused an explosion that killed at least one person and injured at least eight others Saturday, prompting an evacuation of the immediate area, authorities said.

A second explosion at the station injured at least 26 firefighters, emergency officials said.

Under a EU-funded cross-border project for the improvement of the training and response capacity of professional emergency services, the Mobile Emergency Resuscitation and Extrication Service (SMURD) included, the safety and protection of the population in the region of Moldova and the Republic of Moldova will increase.

Traffic is restricted on Thursday, in the area of Charles de Gaulle Square in central Bucharest, after an American helicopter participating in a training flight for Aviation Day, landed in a roundabout. As a result of the incident, two cars and two lighting poles were damaged, according to the representatives of the Road Brigade.

The two patients at the Floreasca Hospital, seriously injured in the Petromidia explosion, were transported to Germany on Monday, by a military aircraft, informs the Ministry of National Defence (MApN).

One of the injured in Friday's explosion at Petromidia who sustained burns on 45% of the body has been flown by a SMURD Constanta rescue helicopter to the Floreasca Hospital in Bucharest, and the SMURD Bucharest helicopter left for Constanta to take over a second injured, with burns on 25% of the body, senior emergency management official Raed Arafat said on Friday.

The authorities have activated the red plan for intervention, on Monday morning, after an accident that took one life and left 13 others wounded, on highway A1, before the Border Crossing Point Nadlac II, Arad County (west).

The pilot of the MIG 21 LanceR aircraft that crashed on Tuesday in Mures County is in a stable condition, being conscious and cooperative, according to the Defence Ministry (MApN). According to a MApN statement, the plane belonged to the 71st Cimpia Turzii Air Base and was used in a training flight. The aircraft crashed around 14:30hrs near Dedrad, Mures County, in an uninhabited area.

A Mobile Emergency Response Training Centre, purchased by the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), has been made available to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU). The centre is made as a semi-trailer, being completely autonomous.

A C-27J Spartan aircraft of the Romanian Air Force configured for medical missions is conducting a humanitarian mission on Sunday on the route Otopeni - Iasi - Munich, to carry a burn patient in an emergency regime, the National Defence Ministry (MApN) informed in a press release sent to AGERPRES.

President Klaus Iohannis said on Saturday that it is "an extraordinary thing" that in Romania there are thousands and thousands of volunteers, expressing appreciation and gratitude for their involvement in many activities.
