Romania's Presidential Vote Campaign Kicks Off
The campaign for the first round presidential elections due to be held on November 2 in Romania began Friday.
A number of polls suggest Prime Minister Victor Ponta, also a leader of the Social Democrat Party, is most likely to win, with his main rival, ethnic German Klaus Iohannis, who heads the Christian Liberal party, trailing behind.

Basescu Ally to Run for Romanian Presidency
The board of the centre-right Popular Movement Party, PMP, on Tuesday named Elena Udrea as its candidate in November's presidential elections.
Udrea, 41, a former Tourism Minister, is highly unlikely to win against the current front runner, the Prime Minister, Victor Ponta.

PSD's National Council unanimously accepts Victor Ponta's presidential bid
The National Council of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) on Tuesday unanimously accepted Victor Ponta's bid for Romania's President. The acceptance of the bid was announced by PSD Executive Chairman Liviu Dragnea after putting up for a vote a resolution on Ponta's run for president of Romania.

Romanian Opposition Party Elects New Leader
The National Liberal Party, PNL, Romania’s biggest opposition party, elected Klaus Iohannis as its new president on Saturday.
Iohannis, 55, an ethnic German and popular mayor of Transylvanian city of Sibiu, has replaced former parliament speaker Crin Antonescu, and has promised to revive the party’s popularity.
