Attica lockdown comes into effect as measures are specified

Experts likely to propose 6 p.m. curfew in Attica on weekends
The Health Ministry's committee of experts on the pandemic appeared likely to advise the government to impose a 6 p.m. traffic curfew in the region of Attica for the weekends, although the proposal is not backed by all the members of the committee.
Minister leaves open possibility of earlier curfew
Citizen Protection Minister Mihalis Chrysohoidis said that the government has not ruled out the possibility of an earlier curfew in Greece as a measure to stop the recent spike in new infections.
Asked on Wednesday if authorities are considering stopping all traffic at 6 p.m. instead of the current 9 p.m., the minister said "it is something we will see."

The weekend-long curfew in the country began on Friday at 9:00 p.m. local time (1800GMT) and will end on Monday 5:00 a.m. local time (0200GMT).
