China economic data miss expectations
China's economic data for April missed expectations last month, official figures showed yesterday, as low demand and high youth unemployment led to a patchy recovery after lifting strict COVID rules.
Retail sales - a key indicator of domestic consumer activity -- grew 18.4 percent on-year, data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.

Labour market remains tight
Slovenia's labour market remains tight. With the lowest unemployment rate in more than thirty years, there were almost 24,000 job vacancies in the first quarter of the year, 2% more than in the quarter before though almost 2% less than a year ago, the latest statistics show.

Why labor can’t meet demand
Over half a million unemployed fail to match the requirements of Greek businesses, so the unemployment rate, although decreasing, remains at significantly high levels (10.9% in March according to ELSTAT) and almost nine out of 10 businesses declare they are searching - in vain - for workers.

Huge blow to retail in the 2010s
A quarter of Greek retail businesses disappeared altogether in the decade from 2010 to 2020, an indication of the heavy price paid by the sector during the financial crisis and then during the pandemic crisis, according to an Alpha Bank analysis.

Stabilization of Unemployment in the EU in March at the level of 6%, Decrease in Bulgaria to 3.7%
Eurozone unemployment fell in March to a record low of 6.5% from 6.6% in February and below the unemployment rate of 6.8% a year earlier (in March 2022). This is the lowest unemployment rate in the eurozone since 1998 - just before the euro was launched in January 1999, according to data from the European official statistics agency Eurostat.
