Social media app TweetDeck has begun going behind a paywall on, with users of platform X, formerly known as Twitter, being diverted to a paid-subscription sign-up page when they tried to access it.

Canadians will No Longer have Access to News on Facebook
Meta will soon discontinue news access on its Facebook and Instagram platforms in Canada. By the next few weeks, all Canadian users will no longer have news content on these platforms. Previously, in June, a test was conducted that restricted news for a small segment of users. Now, the company has moved beyond testing.

The French Parliament passed a law to regulate the activities of social media influencers in an attempt to limit the promotion of dangerous products and trends, reports Prof. Nelly Ognyanova in her "Media Law" blog. The project of two MPs was supported by the entire political spectrum.

Macron accused of Authoritarianism after Threatening to Block Social Media
Emmanuel Macron has faced criticism after threatening social media with a shutdown as a way to stop the spread of violence during the unrest in France, the Guardian reported.
However, representatives of the Elysee Palace and ministers insisted that the president was not considering a "general shutdown" but an "episodic and temporary" interruption.
