Platform opens for contribution refund
The platform for applications for refunds of the 2019 and 2020 social security contributions to 23,000 salaried lawyers, salaried engineers and doctors is now open.
This concerns several million euros which were wrongly imposed on the above professionals and collected by the Single Social Security Entity (EFKA).

Most self-employed people and farmers opt for the lowest contribution category
Nine out of 10 self-employed professionals, freelancers and farmers out of a total of 1.3 million who are insured in the Single Social Security Entity (EFKA) have once again chosen the lowest contribution category for 2023.
Freelancers to pay higher contributions
The social security contributions of 1.2 million freelancers, self-employed and farmers will increase retroactively from the start of the year by 9.6%.

PNO announces 48-hour strike for Feb 8-9
Ferries will remain tied up at ports across Greece February 8-9 after the umbrella union of Greek seamen, PNO, announced a 48-hour strike on Tuesday.
The workers are striking at what they say is the reluctance and refusal of employers to enter into negotiations for the drawing up and signing of new collective labor agreements for 2023.

Young workers are able to swap EFKA for TEKA
Employees under 35 years old, as well as those who to date have not been insured in an auxiliary pension fund will have the option as of this year to switch from the Single Social Security Fund (EFKA) to the Supplementary Social Security Fund (TEKA).
