IOM creates two new safe zones for children refugees in two camps
The International Organization of Migration (IOM) said on Monday it had set up two new safe zones for unaccompanied minors inside the migrant camps of Vagiohori, east of Thessaloniki, and Filipiada, northwest of Arta.
These areas provide educational and creative activities, sports and transportation where needed, aiming at the children's eventual integration into local societies.
Increasingly Less Bulgarians Would Become Foster Parents, Want to Be Paid
About 63% of Bulgarians would not become foster parents under any conditions, and one in six would take home a child at risk if they received a salary and child benefits from the state, shows data from a nationally representative survey of Trend polling agency, commissioned by the National Association for Foster Care.
Information Campaign Launched for Bulgarians Abroad Related to Child Protection
The Bulgarian Ministry of Justice has launched an information campaign targeting Bulgarians abroad and related to the protection of their children. It is in response to reports of recent cases in which social services took the children of immigrants from Bulgaria because of alleged risks to them in the family.
Second half of 2020 witnessed 117 violent incidents against healthcare workers, says report
Around 361 people attacked 231 healthcare workers in 117 incidents that came to light in the last six months of 2020, Health Care and Social Services Workers' Union (Sağlık-Sen) has said.
Of the 117 incidents recorded, 94 were incidents of physical violence, 19 were cases of verbal abuse, and four were cases of harassment against healthcare workers, according to the report.
US offers aid for unaccompanied minors, pandemic
The US government will provide 2.9 million dollars in financial assistance to Greece to improve the living conditions of unaccompanied minors and support the islands against the Covid-19 pandemic, it was announced by Alternate Minister for Citizens' Protection Giorgos Koumoutsakos and US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt following a meeting on Thursday.

Draft migration bill submitted for consultation
The Migration Ministry submitted its five-point draft bill on migration for public consultation on Friday. The consultation will last until April 24.
The bill provides for speeding up the processing and approval/rejection of asylum applications, the creation of closed controlled structures on the islands, and the legal requirements for the latter's new operating framework.

Refugee children to go to Germany, Luxembourg
The resettlement procedure for unaccompanied minors from Greek reception and identification facilities to other European Union states will begin next week.
The plan foresees that 12 will head to Luxembourg next Wednesday and another 50 to Germany two days later.

EU states to take in 1,600 migrant children in Greece
A group of European Union countries has agreed to take in at least 1,600 migrant children in Greece traveling without their parents, with the first unaccompanied minors likely to find homes in Luxembourg as soon as next week, EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson said Friday.
