Rarely seen Van Gogh painting exhibited ahead of auction

 

A rare painting by Dutch impressionist master Vincent van Gogh of a street scene in the Parisian neighborhood of Montmartre will be publicly displayed for the first time before its auction next month.

Sotheby's auction house said the work, painted in 1887, has remained in the same family collection for more than 100 years out of the public eye.

Botticelli 'masterpiece' expected to top $80 mln at Sotheby’s sale

A portrait by Italian renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli is expected to sell for more than $80 million when it goes up for auction at Sotheby's in New York on Jan. 28.

"Young Man Holding a Roundel," believed to have been painted in the 1470s or 1480s, is considered one of Botticelli's finest portraits and is the highlight of Sotheby's Masters Week sale.

Some of the best examples of artwork from the Islamic world, including a portrait of the great Ottoman Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, will go under the hammer at Britain's famous auction house Sotheby's on May 1.
The collection titled "Arts of the Islamic World" has 311 pieces that will find new owners in the auction to be held on May 1.
