South-East European Cooperation Process

Diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Greece were established in 1880, developed gradually over the years, and today they are at an exceptional stage of maturity.  They develop constructively, showing an upward trend in all areas, especially after the accession of Bulgaria to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in March 2004 and its membership in the EU from January 1, 2007.

Thessaloniki – Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon attended a ministerial of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Thessaloniki on Friday, and held a number of bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Greece event. In the debate, Fajon noted the importance of a credible EU enlargement policy for the reform efforts of the Western Balkans.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will inform his counterparts about the Turkish crescendo of provocations in the framework of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Summit that will take place today in Thessaloniki, as he stated in an interview given to the Municipal Radio of Thessaloniki, FM 100.

The Turkish foreign minister and EU foreign policy chief are scheduled to have a bilateral meeting in Antalya, southern Turkey on June 18. 

During the bilateral meeting, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Josep Borrell will review "all aspects of the relations" ahead of EU summit that will be held on June 24-25, said a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Turkey will kick off Antalya Diplomacy Forum on June 18 in the southern province of Antalya where world leaders and dozens of foreign ministers as well as prominent diplomats, academics and journalists will convene for several discussions.

Turkey is expected to see a high turnout in the upcoming Southeast European foreign ministers' summit and Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the country's foreign minister said on June 16. 

Addressing a news conference in Turkey's Mediterranean province of Antalya, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu that this is "an indicator of trust towards our country."

Albanian President Ilir Meta, who spoke on the plenary session of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) right before Serbian Prime Minister, called on Bosnia-Herzegovina to recognize "the fact that Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state".

In Sarajevo on Monday, State Secretary for Inter-Institutional Relations with Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) Maria Magdalena Grigore reiterated Romania's firm support for the continuation of the EU enlargement process toward the Southeast European region, which was a priority file on the agenda of the former Romanian presidency of the EU Council.

The South-East European Cooperation Process, SEECP summit began in Bosnia's capital Sarajevo on Monday without delegations from Kosovo and Albania, which refused to participate.
