Southern Gas Corridor

According to him, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has made "geopolitical sense" in the Balkan Stream.

By decision of the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE), ICGB AD receives a license for an Independent Transmission System Operator (INGS).

Relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have been demonstrating positive dynamics over the recent years. There are plenty of spheres where the countries can implement joint projects and use potential of both countries for further development of economic cooperation, especially within the energy field, writes MENAFN.

The gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece will play a key role for the whole region and Europe, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said at a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras before the official start of the construction, the government press office said.

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline, the last section of the $400-billion, 3,500-kilometer-long Southern Gas Corridor, is now over 87 percent complete on the third anniversary of its construction start, a statement from the TAP AG company said on May 17.

The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has crossed the rocky mountains of Albania, putting it on track to start delivering gas to Europe next year.
Stretching for 878 km (546 miles) from Turkey's border across Greece, Albania's mountains, and the Adriatic Sea to Italy, TAP is a cornerstone of the European Union's energy security policy to wean the bloc off Russian gas.

Bulgaria recognizes Azerbaijan as the main driving force behind the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor, Bulgarian ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolay Yankov said, reports Trend. 

Yankov made the remarks in Baku at the official reception on the occasion of the Liberation Day of Bulgaria on March 4, Trend reports.

The southern gas corridor is at the heart of diversification not only for Bulgaria but also for the whole of Europe, Energy Minister Temenujka Petkova told Darik. The role of Bulgaria is key via the connector with Greece, because new gas supplies will be provided from the Caspian region, she explained.

Progress on the construction of the southern gas corridor for the transfer of Azeri gas to Europe will be discussed at a meeting in Baku, which will include Minister of Energy Temenujka Petkova, Econ.bg writes.

The fifth meeting of the Southern Corridor Advisory Council will also comment on the energy connectivity in the Southeast Europe region.

Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova will visit Baku in February, Trend learned from a diplomatic source.

Petkova will attend the 5th meeting of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor to be held on February 20 in Baku, noted the source.

The source added that Petkova will visit the country with a large delegation from Bulgaria.
