Malvina Panagiotidi's solo exhibition, "All Dreams Are Vexing," at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (Kallirois & Amvrosiou Frantzi, emst.gr), stems from her 2023 research on the Saronic island of Spetses, where one of the first great female artists of modern Greece, Eleni Boukoura-Altamoura, sought solace after her children's tragic deaths.

Gale-force winds keep ferries docked at ports on Monday

Waves batter the port of Rafina in Attica. Ferries remained tied up at the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio on Sunday and Monday due to gale-force winds reaching up to 9 Beaufort in some places. Hydrofoils that service the Argo-Saronic Gulf islands (Salamina, Aegina, Hydra, Poros and Spetses) were also prohibited from sailing.

SYRIZA seeking ‘calm waters’ on Spetses

Members of leftist SYRIZA's parliamentary group leave the port of Piraeus for the island of Spetses on Friday, where they will take part in a two-day "exchange of views" with the main objective being for the opposition party to sail in "calm waters" after the recent infighting, and to forge a way forward. The meetings will take place at the island home of SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis.

Main opposition leader invites SYRIZA MPs to a working holiday in Spetses

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis invited the party's parliamentary group for a three-day working meeting in his holiday home on the island of Spetses.

According to the email invitation the MPs received on Wednesday, the meeting aims to plan parliamentary action for the first semester of 2024, with invitees asked to prepare and propose new pieces of legislation.

Arms committee approves upgrade of MEKO frigates

Parliament's Arms Committee has approved the activation of the mid-life upgrade (MLU) program for the Hellenic Navy's four MEKO frigates.

It was approved Friday by a committee majority with ruling New Democracy, PASOK and Greek Solution voting in favor, while the representative of SYRIZA, who was not present in the Parliament, expressed the party's positive view.
