Ten arrested after police clears squat in Athens municipal theater
Ten people were arrested on Thursday morning after police officers removed squatters from a building housing the Olympia Municipal Music Theater Maria Callas in central Athens.
The suspects, five men and five women, are facing charges of disrupting the operation of a service, illegal violence and aggravated damage to foreign property.

National Theatre calls for end to Rex building sit-in
The Greek National Theater's board threatened legal action against a group of squatters who took over its Rex venue in downtown Athens as part of a wider protest by artists over their educational qualifications, if they do not clear the area by March 27.
Greek state: Title deeds to 90,000 encroached upon properties

Minister: Taking aim at campus crime
The mission of the new police force to serve on university campuses will be to avoid the "humiliation" of any more rectors, Citizens' Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis told Kathimerini in an interview, citing the October 2020 attack on the Athens University of Economics and Business rector, when anarchists hung a sign around his neck with a pro-squatting slogan on it.

Dozens of buildings get new lease on life in Greek capital
Crews of the Athens municipality have removed tons of trash since last March from more than 60 buildings that were under occupation by squatters or used as a hideout by petty thieves and drug users.
Many of these buildings had been evacuated in recent months in police operations, but the evictees left behind waste of all kinds, mixed with loot and food scraps, clothes and utensils.

Police evacuate migrant squat in Exarchia
Greek police evacuated about 50 migrants from a squat in the central Athenian district of Exarchia during a raid early Monday morning, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.
According to information cited by the agency, the migrants are mainly from Syria and Congo and included more than 10 children.
The building on 58 Themistokleous Street had functioned as a squat since 216.

Minister vows to end criminality in downtown district by end March
Citizen Protection Minister Mihalis Chrysohoidis said the downtown district of Exarchia, where police has been conducting a series of raids to clear squats and arrest drug traffickers, will be "handed back to its residents" by the end of March.
