Netflix seeks recruits for real-life ‘Squid Game’

Want to play "Squid Game" for real? Netflix is looking for recruits to compete for millions of dollars and even promises not to have you violently murdered if you lose.

"With the largest cast in reality TV history, 456 real players will enter the game in pursuit of a life-changing cash prize of $4.56 million," the streaming platform said on a site set up to look for candidates.

Squid Game season 2 not before late 2024

Fans of "Squid Game" had better not be holding their breath: Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has yet to write the script for season two and said on April 4 it would likely not be released before late 2024.

"I have to work on season two. Hopefully, I can show it to the fans by the end of 2024," the South Korean writer-director said at the MIPTV festival in Cannes in the south of France.

Netflix, UN team up for Africa talent hunt

Netflix has launched a project with the U.N.'s cultural body on Oct. 14 to hunt out young filmmakers from sub-Saharan Africa and explore traditional folktales from the region.

"African Folktales, Reimagined" teams the U.S. streaming giant with UNESCO to find six young directors to make a short film to be aired on Netflix next year.
