Serbia urges UN Security Council members not to vote for a draft British resolution on Srebrenica in a letter sent on Monday by the country's foreign minister.

After initially refusing to attend the 20th anniversary commemoration of the Srebrenica massacres, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said he was now ready to go in order to help reconciliation.

Bosnian Serb and Serbian leaders are using tensions over the UK proposal for a UN resolution on Srebrenica for their own political games, an international diplomat told Balkan Insight on Tuesday.

"This is a highly emotional issue ? and local leaders are again playing with fire," the diplomat said.

A Bosnian Serb leader told the UN secretary-general that a planned Security Council resolution to mark the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacres would cause more divisions.

Wartime commander of Muslim forces in Srebrenica Naser Oric will not attend commemorations on the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica crime.

The Russian mission at the United Nations in New York will on Monday submit a draft resolution on Bosnia-Herzegovina to the UN Security Council.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has called on Bosnian Presidency chairman Mladen Ivanic to schedule a meeting of that body.

The purpose would be "to take a stand on the proposed resolution on Srebrenica," the president said during a news conference after a session of the governments of Serbia and the Serb entity in Bosnia, the Serb Republic (RS) in Belgrade on Friday.

Switzerland's decision to extradite Naser Oric, suspected of crimes against Serbs in the Srebrenica area, to Bosnia "is unjust and has nothing to do with law."

The decision to release Naser Oric was politically motivated and is anything but fair, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic told an extraordinary press conference.

Former commander of Muslim units in Srebrenica and former Hague indictee Naser Oric will be extradited to Bosnia-Herzegovina, N1 is reporting.

The decision was made under shortened procedure, the federal justice office of Switzerland has confirmed for this outlet.
