• Ratko Mladic is appealing against the 2017 verdict sentencing him to life imprisonment for genocide in Srebrenica in 1995, the persecution of Bosniaks and Croats all over the country, terrorising the besieged population of Sarajevo and taking UN peacekeepers hostage.

Prosecutor Serge Brammertz told BIRN in an interview ahead of Ratko Mladic's trial verdict on Tuesday that he believes the crimes by Bosnian Serb forces committed in five Bosnian municipalities in 1992 represented the beginning of a genocide  in the country which culminated in Srebrenica in July 1995.

The death of Milorad Pelemis, wartime commander of the Bosnian Serb Army's notorious 10th Sabotage Detachment, on April 23 in Serbia received major coverage in the country, with many domestic media stressing what they described as his "heroic" actions during the Bosnian war.

But Hanifa Djogaz will not be with them. She passed away at the age of 72 in January this year without living to see the court's verdict in the case of Mladic, who is accused of commanding the forces that killed her sons Samir and Sabahudin and her husband Hamed in the genocide.

Radovan Karadzic was transferred from the UN Detention Unit in Scheveningen in The Hague to Britain on Wednesday, the former Bosnian Serb president's lawyer Goran Petronijevic told Bosnian media.

Petronijevic added that he had talked to Karadzic briefly on Wednesday when he landed in London, but has no further information on his whereabouts.

Ratko Mladic's defence asked the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals in The Hague on Tuesday to postpone the final verdict in the former Bosnian Serb Army commander's trial because lead counsel Branko Lukic cannot be present in court due to illness.

The Bosnian Missing Persons Institute said on Wednesday that the three victims of the Srebrenica massacres who have been identified will be buried at a collective funeral ceremony alongside 13 others at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre in July this year.

Denis Becirovic, the other lawmaker behind the proposal, said that because deputies from the main Bosnian Serb and Croat parties, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD, and the Croatian Democratic Union, HDZ, did not back the changes, it is now time for Inzko to step in and impose a solution.
