Green Zone for Parking in Sofia is Expanding with 2 More Sectors in the Center

From October 1, the Green Zone for parking in Sofia is expanding with two more sectors in the center - ''Down Lozenets'' and ''Sredets'', reported bTV.

The area will cover the sections around the Roman wall and the Hemus Hotel, ''James Bourchier'' Blvd. next to ''Arsenalski'' Blvd. in ''Lozenets'' and  part of Str Tsar'' Ivan Asen ll'' and ''Yavorov Street'' in ''Sredets''.

Bulgaria's Burgas Cut Off Due To Heavy Snow, Strong Winds

Heavy snowfall and strong winds cut off all approaches to Burgas on Tuesday.

Initially, early in the morning on Tuesday, traffic was restricted in the section of Trakia highway from Zimnitsa hub (in the region of Yambol) to Burgas.

Later, at noon, the section Yambol-Sredets - an alternative route - was also closed.

Emergency State Lifted in Bulgaria's Burgas after Chain Crashes

Authorities have lifted the state of emergency in Burgas Region following a series of crashes that left traffic paralyzed along Trakia motorway and a bypass route leading to Burgas from central Bulgaria.

As many as ten villages in the municipalities of Burgas, Sredets and Aytos are still hard to access by car, public broadcaster BNR reports.

Bulgarian 'Migrant Hunter Icon' under Investigation

Bulgaria's "most famous" migrant hunter, Dinko Valev, is being investigated over alleged incitement of discrimination, violence and hatred along ethnic lines, the prosecution says.

Gospodin Valev, known by his first name's shorter form Dinko, rose to notoriety by becoming the most prominent vigilante hunter performing citizen's arrests of migrants in southern Bulgaria.

Fire Rages in Bulgaria's Strandzha

A strong fire is raging 7 km away from the Turkish border near the Momina tsarkva village.

The fire started at around 16:00 hrs and quickly engulfed the forests near the village. Six fire trucks and 20 volunteers have been sent to the area. The wind, however, is very strong and it is difficult to contain the fire.

October 19 Declared Day of Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship

The Bulgarian Parliament declared October 19 day of Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship. The decision was adopted unanimously with 130 votes "for".

Bulgarian Authorities Detain 21 Illegal Migrants Near Border with Turkey

Bulgarian border police officers have detained 21 illegal migrants near the border with Turkey.

They were detained near the village of Granichar in the municipality of Sredets, Darik radio informs.

There are both children and women among the migrants, who claimed to come from Iraq. The youngest migrant from the group is eight years old, while the eldest members is aged 42.

Bulgarian PM Unveils Archaeological Site with Museum Near Sredets

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov unveiled the completely renovated archaeological reserve Deultum near the village of Debelt in the municipality of Sredets on Sunday.

The reserve shows the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region.

All artifacts which have been found on the territory of the archaeological reserve are exhibited in the newly-constructed museum.

Attempt for Armed Robbery Leaves One Attacker Dead in Bulgaria's Sredets

An attempted armed robbery of a security van in the Bulgarian town of Sredets on Monday morning left one of the attackers dead.

Two armed youths attacked the security van which was parked in front of the post office in the centre of the town.

The vehicle was transporting money allocated for the payment of pensions in the town.
