SAS files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in US
Scandinavian airline SAS said yesterday it has filed for so-called Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the United States, as a part of a restructuring plan, a day after pilots walked out on strike.
Turkish Airlines resumes ‘Touristanbul’
Turkish Airlines has resumed its "Touristanbul" complimentary service that had been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic for international transit passengers.
The service was relaunched on July 1, featuring six different tours each day, seven days per week.

THY targets double-digit growth this year, says executive
Turkish Airlines (THY) aims to achieve double-digit growth rates this year and in 2023, the chairman of the company's board and the executive committee has said.
"We are working hard to meet strong demand for domestic and international flights," Ahmet Bolat told reporters on a flight that marked the launch of the flag carrier's flights to Seattle.
Turkish Airlines posts $161 million profit in first quarter
Turkish Airlines swung a net income of $161 million in the first quarter of 2022 from a net loss of $229 million in January-March 2019.
Total revenues of the flag carrier grew more than 10 percent in the first three months of this year compared to the first quarter of 2019 to reach $3.05 billion.
United Airlines loses $1.4 bln in first quarter
United Airlines reported on April 20 that it lost $1.38 billion in the first quarter of 2022 but said it expects to return to profitability in the current three-month period as post-pandemic travel ramps back up.
The Chicago-based airline posted revenue of $7.67 billion in the quarter that ended March 31. That was down 21 percent from the first quarter of 2019.

THY to expand international network with new routes
Turkey's flag carrier plans to expand its network of international destinations and kick start a restructuring of its low-cost carrier brand AnadoluJet, according to Ahmet Bolat, the chairman of the board of directors and the executive committee of Turkish Airlines.
Lufthansa stops Flights to Kyiv and Odessa
German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will suspend flights to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv from tomorrow due to growing fears of a Russian invasion.
The airline said it would also suspend flights to Odessa, a key Black Sea port.
"The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority at all times," Lufthansa said.

Turkish Airlines’ former chair to take helm at Air India: Tata Group
İlker Aycı, former head of Turkish Airlines' executive board and committee, was appointed the CEO of India's national carrier Air India, Tata Sons Group announced on Feb. 14.
Aycı, who was chair of the Turkish Airlines for more than seven years, resigned on Jan. 27.
Italy agrees to privatisation of ITA Airways
The Italian government has given the green light to privatization of ITA Airways, the successor of Alitalia currently being eyed by Lufthansa and MSC.
ITA, which began operating in October out of the ashes of loss-making Alitalia, is valued at between 1.2 billion and 1.4 billion euros, a financial source told AFP.
