Turkey welcomes decision to hold elections in Palestine
Turkey's Consul General in Jerusalem welcomed a decision late on Jan. 15 to hold national elections in Palestine.
"Turkey had long been waiting for a reconciliation between Palestinian parties through elections," Ahmet Rıza Demirer told Anadolu Agency.
Coronavirus: 800 new cases, 32 deaths
Greek authorities announced 800 new cases of coronavirus and 32 fatalities in the past 24 hours Saturday.
Greece's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is now 144,293, with 5,227 dead.
A total of 362 patients remain intubated in intensive care units while 954 have left ICU.

Coronavirus: 510 new cases, 47 deaths
Greek authorities announced 510 new cases of coronavirus and 47 fatalities in the past 24 hours Thursday.
Greece's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is now 142,777, with 5,146 dead.
A total of 391 patients remain intubated in intensive care units while 911 have left ICU.
An estimated 8,700 tests were conducted.

There are 438 patients on ventilators.
The total number of confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic is 138,850, with 4,838 fatalities.

Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza Strip
Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes in the blockaded Gaza Strip, local sources said early on Dec. 26.
Sources in Gaza said the air force hit the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza and the Deir al-Balah region.

Turkey helping Palestinians in need of prosthetic eyes
Turkey is helping Palestinians in Gaza who need eye removal surgeries and ocular prostheses due to severe injuries suffered in Israeli attacks.
Badly damaged eyes have to be surgically removed and replaced with prosthetic ones, and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) is financing the procedure for 10 Palestinians, the agency said in a statement.

Turkey is doing all it can to raise the Palestinian cause at all platforms to end "occupation, oppression and genocide policies", President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Nov. 29.

1,193 new coronavirus cases; 98 deaths
Greek authorities announced 1,193 new coronavirus cases Sunday, a significantly lower daily figure than recently.
The total number of cases since the pandemic began is 104,227.
For the first time in several weeks, the Athens region had the most cases (247), ahead of Thessaloniki (235) and the former prefecture of Pieria, just south of Thessaloniki (88).
