Sunny weather will prevail today. In the afternoon above the western half of the country, and overnight and Sunday to the east, a shallow cloudiness will develop. There will be brief, sometimes intense rainfall, accompanied by thunder and temporary wind gain. There will be hailstorm conditions.

Four people were lightly injured on Wednesday afternoon when lightning struck the Acropolis Hill during a thunderstorm, the Culture Ministry said.
The citadel's lightning rod was hit by a bolt and its impact smashed the windows of the ticket booths at the entrance to the ancient site, injuring two Culture Ministry employees and two tourists.

Lightning struck Greece around 3,000 times during the powerful rainstorms that swept the country on Monday, mainly over sea areas, according to the National Observatory of Athens.
The lightning was detected by the ZEUS long-range lightning detection system operated by the observatory.

A weather system dubbed Fοivos which brought storms and strong winds in most parts of Greece this week will continue to affect the country until Sunday, according to the country's National Observatory's online weather service, Meteo.gr.

The Greek National Observatory's online weather service, Meteo.gr, recorded a total of 107 tornadoes in 2018, which is about average over the course of the past decade.

According to data from Meteo published on Friday, 99 of the tornadoes were at sea (waterspouts) and eight were on land, with three causing significant damage on the Halkidiki peninsula in northern Greece and on Crete.
