Slovenia gets first significant snowfall this winter
After an unseasonably warm start to the winter, Slovenia finally received noteworthy snowfall on 16 January. While children and winter sport enthusiasts were delighted, motorists were not in the least. Starting in the early morning hours, heavy snowfall wreaked havoc on morning rush-hour traffic and disrupted power supply.
Meteorologists warn of torrential rain across country
The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a torrential rain warning expected for five days and has declared a "yellow alert" for nine provinces against rains and strong winds.
According to the latest weather report of the Turkish State Meteorological Service, torrential rains are expected for five days across the country, especially in Marmara, Thrace and Black Sea regions.

The storm caused a major collapse in traffic and led to the closure of schools in several American states, while thousands of people were left without electricity.
Winter and ice storm warnings are in effect in large part of America, from Texas to the Midwest and New England, the National Weather Service said.

Thousands of flights canceled as Eastern US braces for winter storm
Thousands of flights in the United States were canceled on Jan. 29 as parts of the East Coast braced for a shellacking by a powerful winter storm packing heavy snow and high winds.
Places in the North East, including New York and Boston, were expected to bear the brunt of the far-reaching system, which is also predicted to pummel the Mid-Atlantic.
Flights gradually resume at Istanbul Airport
Authorities cleared a runway at Istanbul Airport on Jan. 25, allowing limited flights to resume. Flights were suspended on Monday for safety reasons at the airport. Istanbul's second airport, Sabiha Gökcen, was also operating limited services.

Heavy snow, winds to get more intense in Istanbul throughout week
Heavy snow and sub-zero winds swept through the northwest of Marmara Sea shoreline over the past weekend, with more snowfall possible in the Thrace region starting from Feb. 15 night, according to the Turkish State Meteorological Service.
Weather in Bulgaria: Dangerously Strong Wind, Snow is Coming
On the last day of this week, the light rains that started on Saturday continue in some regions of Eastern Bulgaria. Clouds from west to east will briefly break during the day. Around noon, however, again from west to east the clouds will again take over the horizon. The rains from the next Mediterranean cyclone will be in the evening, at night and on Monday until noon.

A snowstorm is set to cause chaos in parts of the US east coast with more than 60 million people under a winter storm watch.
The storm is expected to stretch from Colorado to Maine and warnings are in place in 14 states.
Some places are predicted to see as much as 60 cm of snow.
