Greek journalists are holding a 24-hour strike on Tuesday to protest the employers' refusal to sign collective labor agreements in privately owned media, low wages and a threat to plurality, their unions said. 

"The strike is another reminder of how Russia continues to strike Ukraine every day," the State Department spokesman explained

Greece's public sector will grind to a halt on Wednesday as the union representing civil servants, ADEDY, has called a 24-hour strike to demand pay rises and mark the anniversary of the country's deadliest train crash. 

Taxi drivers across the Greek capital walked off the job on Tuesday for the first of a two-day strike that will coincide with action from other transport unions on Wednesday.

Part of the nationwide strike planned by the country's civil sector umbrella union, ADEDY, workers on the Athens metro and tram will not operate any services on Wednesday.

The main union representing public transport workers in Germany has called for renewed bus, tram and underground strikes across the country, heaping further woes on travellers.

Verdi, which represents 90,000 workers in the sector, called on a "strike wave from  Feb. 26 to March 2".

During the strike, only the flights provided for by the current legal framework will be served, i.e. only air ambulance services.

Athens taxi drivers have announced mobilizations following the decision by the Attica Taxi Drivers Union to hold a 48-hour strike on February 27 and 28. The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Administrative Council on Wednesday. 

Greece's largest public sector union ADEDY has called for a 24-hour nationwide strike on February 28 requesting, among others, pay rises and staff hirings in healthcare and education.

Taxi drivers participated in a work stoppage in Athens from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, which was followed by a protest rally at the Ministry of Transport to demonstrate against a new tax bill designed to crack down on tax evasion of self-employed professionals. Τhey have also announced a 24-hour strike for November 22.

Junior and senior doctors in England will go on strike together for the first time, a medical association has said, in an escalation to a long-running dispute with the government over pay.

Strikes over pay have hit many sectors of the British economy over the past year with medical workers among those joining picket lines amid the worst cost-of-living crisis in a generation.
