Powerful Earthquake Kills at Least 13 in China, 175 Injured

At least 13 people were killed and 175 more injured late Tuesday after a powerful earthquake struck a popular tourist area in southwest China, according to state media, quoted by CNN.

Of those hurt, about 28 had been severely injured, state-owned media outlet Xinhua said. The quake struck Jiuzhaigou County in China's southwestern Sichuan Province late on Tuesday night.

7 Injured in a Blast at a Station in China

7 people were injured in an explosion in a freight train wagon at the Chinese city of Chongqing, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the police, the freight train arrived at Chongqing Station from Huaihua City in Hunan Province. The explosion has occurred in a wagon that carries auto parts, medications, cosmetics, and batteries.

Vucic: Cooperation with China's Hebei province agreed

TANGSHAN - After meeting with the governor of China's Hebei province, Xu Qin, in Tangshan on Tuesday, Serbian PM and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic said they had discussed various forms of cooperation.

Vucic said that the province, which has a population of 74 million, had a GDP of 500 billion dollars - many times more than Serbia.

China launches first home-built aircraft carrier amid S China Sea tension

China launched its first domestically built aircraft carrier on April 26 amid rising tension over North Korea and worries about Beijing's assertiveness in the South China Sea.

State media has quoted military experts as saying the carrier, China's second and built in the northeastern port of Dalian, is not expected to enter service until 2020, once it has been kitted out and armed.

Vucic, Jinping meet in Davos

DAVOS - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the fringes of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Tuesday.

Vucic said earlier he would raise several very significant questions for Serbia, including establishing direct flights from Belgrade to Beijing and the start of works on upgrading the rail line from Belgrade to Budapest.
