More than 1,000 ancient graves uncovered in Halkidiki

Tourism development may have overshadowed the archaeological wealth found on the peninsulas of Kassandra and Sithonia in Halkidiki, but thanks to it, one of the largest cemeteries in northern Greece has been uncovered. Over a thousand burials of different types and numerous findings have been unearthed in recent years on Sithonia's Agios Ioannis coast.

Train crash: experts submit report; more could face charges

The two experts appointed by the head of the Larissa prosecutor's office have submitted their findings about the causes of the Feb. 28 deadly train crash in central Greece.

Sources within the city's court system would not commend secifically, but told Kathimerini many of the findings in the experts' report will be crucial in shaping their investigation.

ADMIE, Hellenic Cables ink interconnection deal

Two doctors working at a hospital in Volos have been suspended from duty pending a disciplinary inquiry after it emerged that they granted 30 days of sick leave to a key Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) supervisor just hours after the deadly train collision at the nearby Vale of Tempe.

Fire service responds to blaze on Crete

The Hellenic Fire Service has responded to a blaze that broke out near the town of Ierapetra on the island of Crete on Monday. Specifically, there are currently 43 firefighters and 12 vehicles on scene to tackle the fire.

The HFS also responded to another fire on the island earlier on Monday, close to the city of Irakleio, with eight firefighters and three vehicles.
