Samos restaurant owner handed suspended jail sentence for blocking tax officials
A restaurant owner on the eastern Aegean island of Samos was handed a 12-month suspended jail sentence on Wednesday over her refusal to allow tax officials to seal her business, and for trying to intimidate them.
Two Serbian citizens held for stealing cars in Greece
The Greek police have arrested two Serbian citizens suspected of stealing several luxury cars in Chalkidiki, Greek media reported.
The suspects are a 24-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, believed to be the "core" of a group that has been stealing cars "in different composition every time."
Kavala power outage caused by transformer explosion
The city of Kavala and its surrounding area in northeastern Greece were without electricity for around two hours late on Sunday night. The power outage was caused by an explosion at a Public Power Corporation transformer shortly before midnight.
A small fire broke out after the blast but it was quickly brought under control.
Greece is Preparing to Double the toll from Kulata to Thessaloniki
Greece is preparing to double the amount of road toll for the segment from the Kulata-Promahon CPS to Thessaloniki, the Bulgarian News Agency reported.
Fires rage at the island of Kythera, Greece!
On early Saturday afternoon, the fire that threatened the island of Kythera, where two settlements were evacuated, Mylopotamos and the Araies was reignited. Two aircraft and three helicopters returned hurriedly to the area, although earlier, when the fire was considered to be under control, they had left.
There are also 23 vehicles, 118 firefighters.

Risk of wildfires spikes as new heat wave begins
A blaze that started Friday morning in woodlands in the Milopotamos area of the island of Kithira was brought under partial control on Saturday, although firefighters had their work cut out them them due to strong winds combined with hot, dry conditions.

Fire flares up on Kythera as Lesvos blaze controlled
Just as Greek firefighters started to get a large blaze under control on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos and other parts of the country on Friday, another flared up on the southern island of Kythera.
According to initial reports the blaze is so far contained in a stretch of farmland in the leafy area of Mylopotamos on the island's western side.

The National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation presents an exhibition of 51 works by Chronis Botsoglou that were painted between 2008 and 2016 based on the view that the acclaimed artist saw from the window of his home in the village of Petri on Lesvos.

Wildfires flare up on Greek island of Lesvos
Firefighters battled all night with three different fronts on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, trying to keep the flames from reaching homes in the areas of Plomari, Trigona and Plagia, while Friday morning saw fresh flare-ups, particularly in Karionas.
