Horror on Farmakonisi, dozens dead as mothers seek drowned children
Three people drowned when a boat carrying some 100 migrants capsized off theisland of Farmakonisi in the south Aegean. 68 people were rescued on Sunday while 29 managed to swim to a beach on the island.
Greek coastguards recovered three bodies, including a child.
2-month-old baby refugee pronounced dead, another sacrifice to the god of inhumanity
Saturday dawn. A dingy transferring refugees crashed onto a rock at the coast of Agathonisi. A two-month-old baby swallowed water and could not be resuscitated by its parents. It lay in a critical condition for hours as the isolated island has no doctor. Despite efforts, the baby could not be transfered to the hospital at Samos in time to be rescued.

The coast guard of Tilos arrested 4 Russian and Ukrainian nationals for allegedly smuggling 64 irregular immigrants onto the small island, located between migrant-laden Kos and Rhodes. Following a tip, the authorities reportedly detected the vessel under German flag attempting to illegally bring 64 Syrian refugees into Greek sea territory.
