A tragic shooting incident has shaken the New York subway system, leaving one person dead and five others wounded, according to a report by Reuters. The assailant remains at large, adding to the urgency of the investigation.

Police hunted late into the night for the gunman who opened fire Tuesday on a subway train in Brooklyn, an attack that left 10 people wounded by gunfire and once again interrupted New York City's long journey to post-pandemic normalcy.

The search focused partly on a man who police say rented a van possibly connected to the violence.

At least 13 people have been injured in a shooting incident at a subway station in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, where "several undetonated devices" were recovered, authorities said on April 12. 

A New York police spokeswoman told AFP officers responded to 911 call of a person shot in the Brooklyn subway at 8:27 am (1227 GMT).

The evacuation and demolition of commercial spaces illegally located on the public domain of the state started on Wednesday morning at the Stefan cel Mare metro station, the Ministry of Transport announced.

The subway protests were organized as a result of the dissatisfaction of trade unionists caused by Metrorex's [the Bucharest subway company - editor's note] to reduce employees' salaries and lay off staff and has nothing to do with the situation of the commercial spaces, the head of the Unitatea - Sindicatul Liber din Metrou (USLM) trade union, Ion Radoi, told AGERPRES on Friday.

Two brothers, aged 17 and 15, who attacked an Athens subway stationmaster because he told them to wear masks on a subway train, will appear before a magistrate Tuesday for depositions.

The two were jailed Saturday, charged with premeditated aggravated assault, a felony, as well as disobedience, for refusing to provide police with fingerprints.

West Park Subway Station was closed for citizens access this morning.

The reason is forgotten luggage, announced Sofia Municipality.

After the metropolitan police checked the bag they did not find anything suspicious.

About 9.00 am the train movement was restored.

A power cut affected several areas of Attica on Wednesday, causing chaos on the roads as traffic lights went out and disrupting parts of the capital's subway system.

The blackout was caused by a malfunction at a sub-station close to the capital which had a capacity of 150 kilovolts. 

Subway Restaurants, the largest restaurant chain in the US, has some serious problems. The Chief Executive Officer Susan Greco announced that she will leave the position.

In 2017, approximately 909 Subway stores closed doors - three times more than in the previous year. Another 500 stores are expected to be shuted down in 2018, said Business Insider.
