New Zealand Shaken by Powerful Earthquake - Tsunami Alert Stated

A powerful earthquake has struck off the east coast of New Zealand's North Island, shaking residents of New Zealand biggest cities. The power was registered at a magnitude of over 7.

A tsunami warning was issued for an area of 300 kilometres around the epicentre, and the national disaster authority said the first waves may have already hit the coast around East Cape.

Magnitude 4.8 quake strikes western Turkey

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake rattled Manisa province in western Turkey early on Feb. 24, according to the country's top disaster management body.

The quake occurred at 05:43 local time (0243GMT), said the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD). 

It struck at a depth of 7 kilometers (4.3 miles).

No casualties were observed according to initial reports.
