The first serious "NO"
Minister for Climate and the Environment Annika Strandhll and the president of the federal board of the women's faction of the Social Democrats, told the newspaper "Svenska dagbladet" (The Swedish Daily News) that the women's faction opposes joining NATO. That faction has a "long history of fighting for issues related to peace, disarmament, detente and non-entry into military alliances".

Excluding Sweden from moves to open borders across the Nordic region as it recovers from the coronavirus pandemic would be a political decision and not justifiable on health grounds, Foreign Minister Ann Linde said on Tuesday.
Media in Sweden have raised concerns that Swedes could be excluded as curbs on travel are relaxed, both in the Nordic region and elsewhere in Europe.

An unconventional approach produces results?
Anders Tegnell, the architect behind Sweden's relatively relaxed response to Covid-19, told local media the latest figures on infection rates and fatalities indicate the situation is starting to stabilize.
"We're on a sort of plateau," Tegnell told Swedish news agency TT.

Sweden to bring back conscription: Report
Sweden announced March 2 that it will reintroduce compulsory military service starting this summer to respond to global security challenges including from Russia.
"The government wants a more stable staff supply system and to boost its military capability because the security situation has changed," Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist told TT news agency.

Support for EU plummets in Sweden
BELGRADE - There's been a big drop in the number of Swedes who say they back their home country being in the EU, according to a survey for pollsters TNS Sifo commissioned by Swedish public broadcaster SVT.
Only 39 percent of Swedes think it's a 'good idea' that Sweden is in the European Union, pollsters found, compared to 59 percent in autumn 2015, TheLocal.se reports.
