Stjepanovic claims European silver in London

LONDON - Serbia's top-ranked swimmer Velimir Stjepanovic won the silver medal in the 200 m freestyle event at the European Swimming Championships in London Wednesday.

Stjepanovic, who was the defending champion, finished in 1.46.26 - 16 hundredths of a second behind the winner, Sebastiaan Verschuren of The Netherlands, with Briton James Guy coming third in 1.46.42.

Vyatchanin sets new state record, wins A norm for Olympics

MESA - New member of the Serbian swimming team Arkady Arkadyevich Vyatchanin of Russia set a new state record for 200-metre backstroke at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Mesa and thus met the A norm for the Rio Olympics.

Vyatchanin completed the race with the time of 1:56.95, which is currently the best timing in Europe for the year of 2015.
