Meimarakis: Tsipras the architect of the most painful memorandum

Evangelos Meimarakis, leader of Greek major opposition party, New Democracy (ND) called on all European powers to cooperate in order to solve the pressing problems facing the continent. In an interview to site news247.gr, Meimarakis underlined the need for all Greek political parties supporting Greece’s European prospect to come together after the September 20 elections.

Greeks are to decide on the country’s next political leader on September 20, however the real decisions for the country will be made at the Eurogroup meeting in Luxembourg on September 11-12. The EU finance ministers will decide on measures to be implemented in Greece immediately after the elections regardless of the “winner”.

Wednesday will witness the first and only televised debate of the seven political leaders whose parties were represented in the outgoing Parliament, sans the ultra-nationalist Golden Dawn party.
The political “gab fest” will come days before the third time Greek voters are asked to cast their ballot in 2015.

How much money will Greek political parties get for the elections?

The full amount allocated to political parties during the second elections of the year due to take place on September 20 is a staggering 3,532,000 euros. This amount is 500,000 euros less than the 4,036,000 euros that had been given to political parties in the January 25 elections at the start of the year.
