SYRIZA shifts on diaspora vote

Following a session of its political secretariat Friday, the main leftist opposition SYRIZA party shifted position on New Democracy's initiative to grant full voting rights to diaspora Greeks, indicating that it could compromise on the basis of proposals made by the Communist Party (KKE) and the MeRA25 party of former leftist finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.

Smart measures

When it was in the opposition, New Democracy had criticized Alexis Tsipras's leftist government for distributing the country's primary budget surplus in the form of an end-of-the year handout. 

Ex-PM says he may also go on record about 2015 negotiations with creditors

SYRIZA opposition leader and former prime minister Alexis Tsipras said on Monday that he may be compelled to give his own account of the make-or-break negotiations between his recently elected leftist-led government and European creditors in the first half of 2015 that saw Greece teetering on the brink of expulsion from the eurozone.
