The chair of the Hungarian National Council from Transylvania (CNMT), Tokes Laszlo, stated, on Wednesday, in a press conference held in western Cluj-Napoca, that the regime change in December 1989 is not complete if there are not changes in what regards minorities.

The President of the Hungarian People's Party of Transylvania (PPMT), Szilágyi Zsolt, stated in Baile Tusnad on Friday that the claim of autonomy is a sign of Szeklers' loyalty to Romania and expressed his conviction that autonomy would make our country even more stable and stronger.

Acting as decision-making chamber, the Senate rejected on Tuesday by a vote of 96 to 9 the legislative proposal for the autonomy of the Szekely Land.

Prosecutors from the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism, DIICOT, on Tuesday held a 17-year-old man from the southern city of Craiova for allegedly distributing video material inciting Islamist violence.

Beke Istvan Attila, an ethnic Hungarian citizen of Romania, was remanded in custody for 30 days on Tuesday after being accused of "attempted crimes against the constitutional order and the non-observance the of explosive materials regime".

A request for arbitration in relation to the autonomy of the 'Szekely Land' in Romania demanded by several local councils from the counties of Covasna, Harghita and Mures was denied on Tuesday in Strasbourg by the Monitoring Committee of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities (CLRA) of the Council of Europe.

Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) chairman Kelemen Hunor in Miercurea Ciuc on Friday said that the Union cannot agree with the statement that "Romania is the EU's Islamic State" and that the problems the Hungarian community has must be solved in Romania.

Presidential candidate of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor told an Orban Balasz gala awards on Monday evening in Targu Mures that institutional guarantees, such as autonomy, are the path to the prosperity of the community made up of Hungarians, Romanians and other ethnics.
