BELGRADE - Telekom Srbija CEO Vladimir Lucic said on Tuesday the company's expansion to Germany was its "biggest undertaking yet."

Telekom Srbija launched its services in Germany on Monday.

Members of the United Services Trade Union Ver.di (Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft) and the railroad workers' union are on strike. The strike affected all intercity rail traffic, almost all city traffic as well as most airports. The strike also covers maritime traffic in Germany as well as highways.

The alleged wrongdoing went back even further than 2011.

MakTel once dominated the mobile market in North Macedonia, operating since 2001 as a joint venture between the state and Magyar Telekom, the Hungarian subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. Its only competitor was the far smaller Cosmote network.

Hundreds of thousands of new jobs in Germany will be filled with workers from Eastern Europe. Employment in July in the country was 700,000 units higher than in the previous year. This shows official data from the German government quoted by Deutsche Welle.

A 78-meter-long künefe dessert was prepared on July 23 for an event held to commemorate the 78th year the southern border province of Hatay, the dessert's homeland, joined Turkey.
