Pogačar solos to Amstel Gold win

Slovenian cycling star Tadej Pogačar bagged the 11th win of the season on 16 April when he soloed over 30 kilometres to win the Amstel Gold Race, a one-day classic.

The 24-year-old UAE Emirates rider finished in just over six hours, 37 seconds ahead of Ireland's Ben Healy. Tom Pidcock settled for third place.

Free self-testing kits for students available from Monday

Ljubljana – Free kits for Covid-19 self-testing for primary and secondary school students in the new school year will be available in Slovenian pharmacies from Monday. Testing will be voluntary and will take place at home, with funds for the campaign being secured from the national budget.

Janja Garnbret becomes Slovenia’s tourism ambassador

Ljubljana – The Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) has entered a partnership with Janja Garnbret, currently the world’s best female climber, multiple world champion and Olympic gold medallist. Garnbret has thus joined a number of Slovenian top athletes who have become ambassadors of Slovenian tourism, the STO announced on Wednesday.

Tadej Pogačar recovers from Covid-19

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s top cyclist Tadej Pogačar tested positive for Covid-19 but had only mild symptoms. He has already returned to training and should be ready in time for his first race of the season, his team UAE Emirates said on Tuesday.

“Fir his safety and the safety of the broader community, he isolated and recovered before returning to light training,” the team said.
