Istanbul Stages Football Festivities Ahead of Champions League Final
Gul said that 15,000 security officers have been deployed for the match on Saturday, the biggest football event in the European club calendar.
The final will be played in Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic Stadium, where 70,000 fans from all over Europe will attend the game as tens of millions watch on television or online.
Winner of sculpture competition placed in Taksim Square
A sculpture, which has been selected from 80 works, was placed right next to the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) in Istanbul's Taksim Square.
A sculpture competition was held in April last year to enrich the architecture of AKM, which underwent a great restoration work and now welcomes art lovers with its renewed face.

Some 170 people, including journalists, were detained on Tuesday after Turkish police aggressively prevented people from marking the ninth anniversary of the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul.
The crowd was not allowed to enter Taksim Square and Gezi Park and police used violence to stop demonstrators, with barricades, tear gas and batons.

Trabzonspor win Turkish Süper Lig title, for first time in 38 years
Trabzonspor on April 30 won the Turkish Süper Lig title for first time in 38 years as they clinched the trophy with three matches to spare.
Fans from the Black Sea team flooded the pitch to celebrate the triumph minutes before the end of a 2-2 home draw against Antalyaspor.
It is the club's seventh league title in its history, and first since 1984.

Defying police intervention, thousands of protesters on Tuesday took to the streets of Istanbul to condemn a Turkish court's decision to jail for life philanthropist and human rights advocate Osman Kavala and others for their roles in the Gezi Park Protests in 2013, which the court insisted was a coup attempt.

Historic cistern in Taksim Square to be renovated
Renovation work has begun for a nearly 300-year-old cistern in Taksim Square in the heart of Istanbul.
The cistern, also known as "the Maksem," was revamped in 2008 and served as the Taksim Republic Art Gallery for years. It has been a favorite spot for visiting tourists for taking pictures.
