Former Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, who is now the president of the Serbian parliament, said on Tuesday that negotiations between the Afghan authorities and the Taliban were held in secret in Serbia a few years ago.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has demanded the government not to make any deal with the West that would bring more refugees from Afghanistan following Taliban's takeover of the country.

Turkey is continuing its dialogue with all the sides in Afghanistan, including the Taliban, the Turkish foreign minister has said, vowing that Ankara's efforts for peace, stability and prosperity of the war-torn country will endure.

That fear was felt by all the countries on whose territory the U.S. mission is located at the moment when the capital of Afghanistan was conquered before the eyes of the world, practically without a shot being fired.

A senior security official from the airport told Reuters that the runways, from which frightening images of the panicked flight of people who died on that occasion came on Monday, are now ready for planes.

No requests for assistance or for evacuation of Bulgarian citizens from Afghanistan have so far been received, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press centre has announced.

"Yugoslavia, Libya, and now Afghanistan. Could something else have been expected? A trillion has been spent in vain," he noted.
Grushko reminded that in NATO, for 20 years, they talked about the fortress of "transatlantic harmony and taking into account the opinion of every member of the Alliance: we came together, we will leave together".

Turkey's offer in June to guard and manage the international airport in the Afghan capital was a unique opportunity for Ankara to build leverage over the United States, the European Union and NATO.
