Major natural gas exporting nations have begun meetings in Doha to discuss how to meet skyrocketing world demand as tensions surrounding Ukraine stoke fears in Europe about gas supplies from Russia.

Turkey and Qatar Dec. 7 signed 15 agreements, including in various fields such as military, health, tourism, and education, to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries during a visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Doha.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will pay an official visit to Qatar on Dec. 6-7 at the invitation of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar to attend the 7th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee.

The Turkish foreign minister will embark on a three-day Gulf tour on Feb. 9 for official visits to Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.

According to a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Feb. 8, Çavuşoğlu will pay official visits to Kuwait, Oman and Qatar on Feb. 9-11 and "will hold talks with his counterparts and other high-level authorities" on the occasion of these visits.

Turkey on Jan. 5 welcomed the outcome of the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit held in Saudi Arabia, which saw reconciliation between Gulf states.

Gulf leaders signed a "solidarity and stability" deal on Jan. 5 after the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar publicly embraced, bringing Doha back into the regional fold after a three-year rift.

Saudi Arabia will reopen its borders and airspace to Qatar, U.S. and Kuwaiti officials said on Jan. 4, a major step towards ending a diplomatic rift that has seen Riyadh lead an alliance isolating Doha.

Turkish president held separate phone calls with Iraqi and Qatari leaders to discuss cooperation in combating the novel
coronavirus outbreak, the Communications Directorate said on May 22. 

Turkey's president and Qatar's emir held a phone call on March 23 to discuss recent developments, the Communications Directorate said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani spoke over the phone on cooperating regarding the fight against the coronavirus, the directorate said in a statement.
