Athens Flying Week gets under way
The aircraft of the Swiss demonstration team PC-7 taxi at the media presentation day of the 12th Athens Flying Week, in Tanagra on Friday. More than 50 aircraft from abroad and all the flying means of the Hellenic Armed Forces are participating in the Tanagra International Airshow, which returns for a 12th consecutive year, promising to be more impressive than ever.

Lightning strikes more than 12,000 times
More than 12,000 lightning strikes were recorded across the country by midday Thursday, according to the National Observatory of Athens' Zeus lightning detection network. Forecasts for bad weather with intense lightning activity had been made since the beginning of the week.

Rift with Church largely bridged

The first upgraded F-16 Viper of the Hellenic Air Force is returning to Greece following 2.5 years of exhaustive testing at the US Air Force aerospace facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
More evacuees from Sudan touch down
Sixteen Greek nationals, a Cypriot, nine Romanians and 8 Finns have landed on board a Hellenic Air Force transport aircraft at Tanagra air base following their evacuation from Sudan via Jordan and Djibouti.
The C-27J Spartan transport carrier, which landed shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, contained several children.
