President Nikolic's Easter message

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic wished on Saturday a happy Easter, the greatest Christian holiday, to Serbian Patriarch Irinej, priests and monks, and all citizens of Serbia celebrating this holiday, with the message that "the strength of our country should lie in understanding, love and solidarity, as our faith preaches".

Bjelic and eight other suspects face 30-day detention

BELGRADE - The High Court in Belgrade has announced on Wednesday that a 30-day detention was ordered for Aleksandar Bijelic, former Belgrade city manager, and eight other people suspected of abuse of office in connection with the 2010 reconstruction of the capital's longest street, King Aleksandar Boulevard.

Loan condition - solve problem of restructuring companies

BELGRADE - Dusko Vasiljevic, Private Sector Development Specialist in the World Bank country office in Serbia, said on Tuesday that the condition that would be attached to the World Bank's USD 250 million loan to Serbia is not to adopt laws on bankruptcy and privatization, but to solve the problem of restructuring companies.

Serbian national ice hockey team bested by Estonia

BELGRADE - The Serbian national ice hockey team was defeated by Estonia 5-2 (1-1, 2-0, 2-1) in Belgrade late Saturday in the third round of the Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A.

This defeat has reduced the chances of the Serbian team to win a medal at the Championship, which is being held at Pionir Ice Hall April 9-15.
