Floods threaten settlements,claim lives,evacuation underway

BELGRADE - The Serbian government declared a state of emergency due to flashing floods caused by heavy rain throughout the country on Thursday.

The decision was made at the request by the Republic Emergency Management Headquarters, who said this is the biggest natural disaster caused by rain in Serbia's history.

BELGRADE - Australian Ambassador in Belgrade Julia Feeney said Tuesday that the range of economic cooperation between Serbia and Australia is pretty narrow, and Serbia’s mineral resources attract great attention of Australian companies.

Ambassadors, minister recite at concert for fallen soldiers

BELGRADE - The International Belgrade Singers Choir, the Canadian Embassy in Belgrade and the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment organized in Belgrade a concert commemorating fallen soldiers of all nations between 1914-1918.

Numerous audience gathered in the Kolarac Endowment on Monday evening at this unusual concert, which is one of the events marking the 100th anniversary of World War I.

Serbia at Cannes Film Festival

BELGRADE - Serbia will be presented by the movie entitled Leto bez meseca (Moonless Summer) directed by Stefan Ivancic in the official selections of this year's Cannes Festival.

The movie was produced by the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and the Belgrade-based Non-Aligned Films and it will be displayed as part of Cinefondation program on May 21.
