Digital transfer of property completed online in one day, ministers say
The digital transfer of property platform went into operation on Monday through the gov.gr portal for all citizens and notaries public who wish to avoid lengthy in-person registration times.
Once data is entered, the system will send the approved transfer or a justified rejection within a working day, instead of several-month delays, e-Governance ministers said.
Night club hid three million euros in revenue
Greece's tax authority uncovered tax evasion totalling three million euros at an Athens night club.
Following a tip, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) discovered that the business had not submitted a tax return that for the 2022 tax year, concealing revenues of 2.7 million euros, while also avoiding the payment of VAT totalling 255,000 euros.

AI utilized in battle against tax evasion in Greece
The director of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), Giorgos Pitsilis, in a presentation at the 5th Tax Law Conference on Wednesday, presented the plan for the introduction of artificial intelligence in its services.
Tax rate for multinationals
The government will next month submit to Parliament the new taxation framework with the establishment of a minimum tax rate of 15% for large multinational companies as well as large Greek groups.

Cash transactions of over 500 euros to carry hefty fines
Taxpayers, such as property buyers, who insist on breaking the law by conducting cash payments in excess of 500 euros each are facing fines, which can reach up to twice the value of the transaction, as the provisions of the new tax law have come into force.
Vice president hints at tax reform
The government will broaden the tax base and increase the share of direct taxes, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said.
"There have been criticisms such as 'too high a tax burden,'" Yılmaz said on Dec. 12 during his speech in the parliamentary talks on the government's 2024 budget.

AADE chief: Changing the image of tax authority

Police dismantles multi-million euro tax fraud ring in cross-border operation
A criminal organization engaging in tax fraud totaling over 15 million euros and tax evasion of 70 million euros was dismantled by the Economic Police Directorate in Greece, reported the Hellenic Police (ELAS) on Wednesday.
