Erdoğan: We embrace Istanbul
The government is trying to pay its "debt of gratitude" to Istanbul by protecting its historical and cultural fabric, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said.
"We love this city, which was entrusted to us by Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Ulubatlı Hasan, with all its districts," Erdoğan said on June 16 during a ceremony to reopen the Vaniköy Mosque in Üsküdar following restoration works.

Erdoğan to embark on 1st foreign visits to Turkish Cyprus, Azerbaijan
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to embark on his first foreign visits following his reelection in the May 28 polls to Turkish Cyprus and Azerbaijan, in a bid to discuss bilateral ties and steps to improve cooperation.
In his first visit on June 12, Erdoğan will meet with Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
Producers want wheat, barley to be purchased more
In a positive move for farmers, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced the purchase price for barley and wheat that farmers have long been waiting for.
"Our producers will receive 9,250 liras per ton for bread wheat and 7,500 liras per ton for barley," President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said following a cabinet meeting on June 6.

Turkish lira hits new low against US dollar

The Turkish Lira sank to a new low against the dollar yesterday, more than a week after the reelection of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The currency, which was propped up by the Central Bank before the presidential election, fell 6.7 percent to 23.16 liras per dollar in the afternoon trade.

President meets FM Kaskarelis to discuss Turkey trip
President Katerina Sakellaropoulou met with caretaker Foreign Minister Vasilis Kaskarelis on Wednesday, with the minister briefing the president on his recent trip to Ankara on the occasion of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's swearing-in ceremony.

Erdoğan meets with Mehmet Şimşek
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has met with former Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, according to a columnist in daily Hürriyet.
The meeting between the president and Şimşek took place on May 29 and it was "positive," said Abdülkadir Selvi, without providing other details.
