A 50-year-old woman in the northwestern province of Tekirdağ has become a trainee teacher in a kindergarten she donated to the Education Ministry in 2017 after studying pediatric development in a university for four years.

Bad weather disrupted life in the western province of İzmir on Jan. 27, when sudden heavy rainfall and storm hit several districts, flooding houses and shops and knocking down trees.
The floods particularly battered the Karşıyaka district, where the waters of the Aegean Sea overflowed the shore and swept through the streets, submerging vehicles.

650-year-old Bible seized in Tekirdağ
Two people were detained by the gendarmerie teams in the northwestern province of Tekirdağ over the seizure of a manuscript Bible, which is considered to be 650 years old.
It was reported that the suspects had been looking for customers to sell the Bible, which is embroidered on gazelle skin, for 3 million Turkish Liras.

Turkey seizes 245 liters of counterfeit alcohol
A total of 245 liters (64.7 gallons) of counterfeit alcohol was seized on Feb. 11 in northwestern Turkey, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Acting on a tip-off, gendarmerie teams in Tekirdag province launched an operation in the Ergene district, Anadolu Agency cited anonymous sources as saying.
Fourteen cartons of cigarettes were also confiscated.

Artifacts unearthed during excavations in ancient cities in the northwestern province of Tekirdağ and exhibited in the Tekirdağ Museum shed light on the Thracian civilization.
The Thracian people, who lived in Thrace, Bulgaria and northern Greece in the ancient ages, were known as the world's most populous tribe after Hindus, according to Greek historian and ancient writer Heredot.
