Bill on implementation of 5G networks clears Senate, as decision-making body

The Senate plenum, acting as decision-making body, adopted today by a vote of 117 to 13 (the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians) and one abstention the bill initiated by the government regarding measures for IT and communications infrastructures of national interest and the requirements for the implementation of 5G networks.

US President Biden Imposes more Sanctions on China

US President Joe Biden is set to ban Americans from investing in dozens of Chinese tech and defence firms with alleged military ties.

The new executive order will come into effect on 2 August, hitting 59 firms including communications giant Huawei. The list of firms will be updated on a rolling basis.

It expands an order previously issued by former President Donald Trump.

Chinese smartphone maker Tecno Mobile starts production in Turkey

One of China's biggest mobile phone maker Tecno Mobile has begun manufacturing in Turkey with an investment of $35 million, a company statement said on May 24.

"We plan to employ around 1,000 people at our production facility at Istanbul's Pendik district in the first year of trading," said Hank Li, Tecno Mobile's Turkey manager.

Visitİzmir available online

A mobile tourism app, Visitİzmir, covering 30 districts, 11 categories, and 2,300 locations in the western province of İzmir, is now accessible to the public.

İzmir Mayor and İzmir Foundation President Tunç Soyer said the aim of the app, realized with the "Another Tourism is Possible" goal, is to holistically raise the prosperity levels of both the city and urban areas of the city.

Four bidders buy wireless frequency bands for EUR 164m

Ljubljana – The Agency for Communication Networks and Services (AKOS) concluded on Friday a wireless spectrum auction as part of which it also offered frequency bands for 5G mobile networks. It has fetched EUR 164.2 million as all four bidders – A1 Slovenija, Telekom Slovenije, Telemach and T-2 – have been awarded frequency bands.
