Telecoms operator Telenor has been fined over BGN 5.2 M by the Commission for the Protection of Competition (KZK) because it misled customers about the speed of the 4-G network offered by the company for nearly a year and, thus, attracted clients by violating the rules of competition.

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday visited Telenor Serbia on the tenth anniversary of its successful operation and CEO Ingeborg Ofsthus said the company plans to invest more, especially in digitization of society.

Montenegro's Agency for Electronic Communications, EKIP, said on Monday that there had interest from several foreign companies in entering the country's telecoms market, causing existing operators to express fears that their profits would be hit and the economic potential of the Montenegrin market reduced. 

Telenor Bulgaria announced on Thursday that it will offer fourth-generation (4G) mobile technology services under the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard in the 1800 MHz band to its customers starting on December 1.

Telenor Serbia has set up a free Wi-Fi hot spot at the park near Belgrade's Central Bus Station, enabling all migrants to get in touch with their families.

Chinese tech company Huawei mulls opening an information technology (IT) center in Serbia.

The plans of the Chinese telecommunications company were announced on Monday after a meeting of Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic with Wan Zheng, Vice-President of Huawei, according to Serbia's Beta news agency.

A regional deal designed to slash pricey mobile roaming costs is under threat after the Montenegrin Administrative Court revoked the decision to cut roaming prices in Montenegro, following complaints by two major mobile operators, Telekom and Telenor.

BELGRADE - The value of the telecommunications market exceeded EUR 1.5 billion last year and it accounts for almost six percent of GDP, Director of Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RATEL) Milan Jankovic said.

KOPAONIK - A total of 3,047 enterprises have been privatized in Serbia until 2015, the proceeds from them totalling EUR 3.7 billion, Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic said on Wednesday.
