Djokovic to lead Serbia in Davis Cup tie against Spain

BELGRADE - Serbia's top-ranked male tennis player Novak Djokovic will lead the national team in the Davis Cup quarter-final against Spain, player/head coach Nenad Zimonjic announced on Tuesday.

Besides world number 2 Djokovic and Zimonjic, who is world doubles number 56, the Serbian team includes world number 38 Viktor Troicki and world number 85 Dusan Lajovic.

Djokovic,Tipsarevic fall short of Miami doubles second round

MIAMI - Serbian tennis players Novak Djokovic and Janko Tipsarevic did not make it to the second round of the Miami Open men's doubles after they were edged by Austrian Jurgen Melzer and Swedish Robert Lindstedt 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

The doubles match on Friday evening marked Tipsarevic's return to competition after being sidelined by injury for one year and a half.

Bryan brothers halt Zimonjic/Anderson

PARIS - Serbian Nenad Zimonjic and South African Kevin Anderson were defeated in the round of 16 of the Paris Masters' doubles competition by top seeded Americans Bob and Mike Bryan in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 late on Thursday.

The Bryan brothers, world No. 1 duo, will next face the Swiss-Indian pair Stanislas Wawrinka/Leander Paes for a spot in the semifinals.

Djokovic outlasts Simon to advance at Cincinnati

Novak Djokovic pulled his championship tennis back together after last week's early exit, beating Gilles Simon 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to reach the third round of the ATP-WTA Cincinnati Masters here Tuesday.
      
The world number one was ambushed at the same stage in Toronto a week ago by eventual champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
