Maria Sharapova finally got a win at the WTA Finals Friday but it wasn't enough to stop her crashing out of the tournament and blowing her opportunity to be crowned year-end world number one.

Following a defeat by Serena Williams in the Red Group first round, Ivanovic is now back into the mix for the semi-finals of the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep secured a sensational victory against world's No. 1 female tennis player, American Serena Williams 6-0, 6-2, in her second match at the WTA Finals in Singapore on Wednesday.
Halep, #4 in the world, scored the biggest win of her career in only 65 minutes, after losing the three matches previously played against Serena Williams.
Lajovic in second round at Valencia Open
VALENCIA - Serbian tennis player Dusan Lajovic reached the second round at the Valencia Open 500, after defeating Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) on Tuesday.
Lajovic, who is currently 67th in the ATP rankings, will play the winner of the match between Spain's Pablo Andujar and Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic in his bid for the quarterfinals.

Garanti Koza WTA Tournament Of Champions Starts In Sofia On Oct. 28
The 2014 Garanti Koza WTA Tournament of Champions starts in Sofia's Arena Armeec on October 28 and ends on November 2.
In this year's edition of the tournament will play Tsvetana Pironkova, Alize Cornet, Flavia Pennetta, Andrea Petkovic, Carla Suarez Navarro, Ekaterina Makarova, Dominika Cibulkova and Samantha Stosur
Ivanovic powerless against Williams
SINGAPORE - Serbian World No. 7 Ana Ivanovic suffered a defeat at the start of the WTA Finals in Singapore, losing to American Serena Williams 6-4, 6-4 in their Red Group opener on Monday.
Top seed Williams notched up her eighth victory against Ivanovic in one hour and 20 minutes.

Bulgaria’s Dimitrov Fails to Win Stockholm Open Title
Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic has defeated Bulgarian star tennis player Grigor Dimitrov in the final of the Stockholm Open.
Berdych won the Stockholm Open title by winning to Dimitrov in a match of 7:5, 4:6, 4:6 which lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Dimitrov loses 100 points in the ATP ranking due to the loss.
Serena slams 'sexist, racist' slur from Russian boss
World number one Serena Williams lashed out at "sexist" and racist" comments from the head of Russian tennis Sunday after he jokingly called her and her sister Venus the "Williams brothers".
Troicki stopped in Vienna semi-finals
VIENNA - Serbia's Viktor Troicki did not make it to the finals of the ATP tournament in Vienna being outlasted by British Andy Murray 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday.
Reaching semi-finals was Troicki's greatest success after a year off from competitive tennis, and now he will improve his current ranking on the ATP list (No. 127) by 10 spots.
