Hristo Gadjev, the chairman of Bulgaria's parliamentary committee on defense, has unveiled plans for Bulgarian involvement in repairing Ukrainian helicopters. In an interview with BNR, Gadjev confirmed that negotiations are underway for Bulgarian company "Terem-Letets" to undertake the repair work, marking a significant step in Bulgaria's efforts to support Ukraine amid ongoing conflict.

In response to concerns about potential attacks on Bulgarian armament facilities amid the Ukraine conflict, Defense Minister Todor Tagarev reassures the public of reinforced security measures. Minister Tagarev highlights the intensified physical protection of military depots and munition storage locations due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

For the first half of 2023, the net sales revenue of the state-owned "Vazovski Mashinostroitelni Zavodi" (VMZ) in Sopot increased by nearly 80% and reached 392 million leva, writes "Capital" and adds that this was driven from the increased demand for special production due to the war in Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense has terminated the procedure for awarding a public contract for the supply of six repaired engines for the MiG-29s. This shows a reference in the procurement register. It was published on March 6, its estimated value was 26.4 million leva including VAT. The basis for the decision is that no tender was submitted.

90% of the repair of 6 MiG-29 engines of the Bulgarian Air Force will be carried out at the Lutsk Repair Plant "Motor" in Ukraine. This became clear from the decision to select a public order contractor of the Ministry of Defense, made on June 16.

Russia is terminating the validity of the certificates issued to three aircraft repair enterprises - two in Bulgaria and one in the Czech Republic, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced at a briefing, quoted by TASS and BGNES.

It is about the Bulgarian "Terem - Letets" and "Avionams", as well as the Czech "Lom Praha".

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Vitalii Moskalenko has officially requested weapons from Bulgaria to Ukraine with a note addressed to our Foreign Ministry. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to BNT that today they received the note and will send it within the competence of the government agencies involved in the topic.

Leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Kornelia Ninova told bTV that Russia is a friendly country towards Bulgaria. According to her, this is the opinion of the majority of Bulgarians, and therefore a large percentage did not want to send military aid to Ukraine, which has been the subject of military action by Russia since February 24.
