ATHEX: Bourse closes yet again at highest in nine years

A rollercoaster session at Athinon Avenue on Thursday saw constant shifts from black to red and back, before the benchmark of the market heeded the course of mid-caps to close with gains for yet another day, despite the decline of the banks index. That means the main index has registered yet another nine-year high, with turnover remaining at a particularly satisfactory level.

ATHEX: Late decline bumps index into the red

The last few minutes of the trading session at Athinon Avenue on Monday saw the main indexes swing from gains to losses - albeit marginal - primarily owing to the decline observed in foreign markets, especially at the opening of Wall Street. Traders appear to be waiting for local political developments as well as the outcome of the Turkish elections.

Mytilineos’ record Q1 data

Mytilineos on Thursday reported its best ever performance in a first quarter, with net profit after minorities soaring 113% to 143 million euros, earnings per share jumping 109% to €1.04 and EBITDA rising 72% to €225 million, while turnover rose 30% to €1.358 billion. Net debt, on an adjusted basis, stood at €948 million.

ATHEX: Bourse grows just over 10% in January

January ended at the Greek stock market with 10.01% growth for the main index, after it suffered a minor decline on Tuesday in a mixed session. While some fellow eurozone bourses took heavier losses on the day, Athinon Avenue saw its expected profit-taking to be small and targeted, while banks enjoyed another day of price gains.
